Double deck of playing cards featuring characters frrom the "Wars of The Roses" plays by William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), was born nearly 80 years after the Wars of The Roses (1455 - 1487) had finished, however out of the 38 plays attributed to him, 8 of these are directly or indirectly related to the Wars of The Roses. The reverse of these playing cards; one deck has the Red Rose of Lancaster, the other has the White Rose of York. These are the emblems of the factions that fought in the wars. On the face cards are the four main kings involved in the confict (Henry VI, Edward IV, Richard III, Henry VII) and their queens (Margaret of Anjou, Elizabeth Woodville, Anne Neville, Elizabeth of York).
