This double deck of playing cards celebrates the tragic life and death Queen Mary I of Scotland (b.1542 - d.1587). The reverse of these playing cards (one red, one blue) have a photo of a woven tapestry representing The House Of Stuart, the name of Mary's family. On the royal cards, the kings, queens and Jacks are represented by people that influenced Mary's life in one way or another, such as Elizabeth I (Queen of Spades) (1533 - 1603) who had Mary imprisoned and eventually executed, and James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell (1534 - 1578) (Jack of Hearts) who was Mary's right hand man/advisor and eventual third husband.
